NEWS FROM TURNING POINT TOASTMASTERS for DISTRICT 68

(Kimberly Boyd, DG 2011-12)

Turning Point is at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel. Jason Chavanel, DTM, was president of Turning Point Toastmasters Club last year. Jason wants to share information about two events, with all clubs in the district so that any member will know they are invited to attend these events.

First – they held their “Across the Wire” competition back in June this year and they want to invite other district members to attend next year’s event on June 15, 2013.

Second – they are asking people to attend the Warden’s Plaque Competition on August 14 beginning at 5:00 pm. The Warden’s Plaque is an annual event between Turning Point (the men’s prison) and LCIW (the women’s prison) both located next to one another at the EHCC facility. These two clubs battle it out every year and whoever wins gets to take the Warden’s Plaque back to their camp for the year.

District 68 is DISTINGUISHED for 5th time in a row!

Letter from IPDG  Ms. Kimberly Boyd

Dear District 68 Immediate Past District and Club Leaders,

It is with an excited and humbled heart that I share with you the exciting news that WE MADE IT!!!

District 68 is DISTINGUISHED once again. Because of your hard work, dedication, and commitment to the health and success of your individual clubs, we were able to reach our goals and become a distinguished district for a fifth consecutive year! (Partial report contained below.)

You guys are AWESOME and it was my complete pleasure to have served you as your District Governor this past year. I learned so much and am so very proud of each of you for being the wonderful leaders you are.

To my district leader team from last year – YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Thank you for standing by me through changes to some of the way we do things in the district and for not complaining but for standing in there with me and supporting every effort that went into making this district the best it can be.

This honor of DISTINGUISHED would have absolutely NOT been achievable without you. You all have MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE – and I hope you take your bracelets and ribbons and share them with others who have made a difference in your life. This year would have not been nearly as exciting, challenging and rewarding without you. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Dave, I ask that you share this message with your incoming district and club leaders and let’s continue the momentum and see the district become more successful than ever in the coming year.

In service to the member…even still,

 Kimberly D. Boyd, DTM

Immediate Past District 68 Governor
